                                                                 Tears of Devotion, Sundara Fawn

Caroline arrived home with an armful of groceries, along with her mom's medications she had just collected from the pharmacy.  She was exhausted, yet aware that mom needed her. and she would do her utmost to meet these needs.  Looking up from the TV, mom smiled and said, "I'm so glad you're home; can you please make me a cup of tea?" "Anything for you, mom," Caroline replied, "just like you did for me when I was little." "Karmic", she thought, "what goes around....."

new day

Bundles of hay covered the field.  Finally, Jim could take refuge from the coming
storm;  the damp air was bringing in heavy clouds.

He climbed down slowly into the storm shelter, heaving his husky frame into the small space.  He felt trapped as he closed the bulkhead door.  The wind began to howl and the air pressure changed; the hairs on his arms stood up straight.  The increased noise outside and the shaking door kept Jim huddled into one of the dirty corners.  He remained so until he fell asleep, exhausted from fear and the day's hard labor.
The next morning dawned brightly, and Jim, awakened by the birdsongs, bolted from the cellar to see the most beautiful sunrise he had ever seen.

point of view

I have become easily entertained in my dotage.  A good book, a nice ride around the shoreline, a lovely scene to shoot, a favorite TV show, some loud music, my laptop - it doesn't take much.  In fact, when all else fails, I amuse myself with silly jokes.

Now, most afternoons are spent with hubby and Guy, the dog.  Guy is delightful with his antics, but hubby, not so much.  Right now hubby's spark is barely lit - a story for another time.

So, afternoon delights, well.... they are pretty much up to me to find or create.  Sometimes it's more effort than I care to put out.

Sorry this post is not about any real delights - it's just where it's at today.....

let's stay here

When I look at this picture I can feel myself lay back in the boat and relax.  That's what any body of water does for me - bringing peace and relaxation and positive thoughts. Guess I am very fortunate to live in a place nearly surrounded by water - ocean, rivers, and ponds.
My dad made his living from the sea, and we always ate heartily of its abundance.  With small efforts we can continue to improve ways to boost production and farming of our watery providers.
The future of our planet depends on our valuing and protecting the substance that covers most of it.  I doubt humanity will ever live on Mars - the logistics are too daunting.  But we cannot live on Earth without richly populated and healthy waters.
I'm just sayin'.......

think again

Sweetie pulled down on her mother's sleeve again. And again she was told, 'in a little while'.  Mama was busy heating up her spoonful of junk.  Sweetie whined 'Mama', but Mama repeated, 'in a little while'.  Mama began making a tourniquet with her belt so the veins on her forearm and hand would engorge.  'I want cereal', Sweetie cried. 'In a little while', Mama replied.
Sweetie watched Mama stab at her vein. Once, twice, then success.  'Mama, Mama!', Sweetie screamed. Mouth hanging open, Sweetie stared as Mama's eyes rolled back in their sockets and her knees buckled to the floor. And heard the whisper of Mama's last words ... 'in a little while'.

crimes of passion

The entire plan hinged on her.  Would she be able to pull it off - luring her wretched boss into the supply closet and locking him in?
"I'll do my best" she said.  Ben shot her a lethal glance.
"You'll do better than that. You will succeed, or else! Otherwise there'll be no need to keep you around any longer."
She smiled widely and said "I have so many other talents, you just cannot imagine."

oh a friend indeed
dependable supportive
what else do i need

Hasn't everybody had a friend they had to let go of because the relationship became toxic to them?  I recently did that with a friend who, for 3 years, irritated and frustrated me, tried to guilt-trip me, and was never interested in anything I ever did or thought.  Why did I remain so long? Good question.  I didn't want to hurt her. But I was hurting #1! So, armed with extra confidence from my cousin and my therapist, I wrote her off verbally. Yeah, I still feel a bit bad, but not as bad as before the split, that's for sure.

My sister, Grace, was my best friend, but she up and died on me 2 years ago. She knew me all my life, and I knew her all my life. Our bond will never in this world be duplicated, and about this I am quite sad.
